1. What is an organization? At what three levels is organizational behavior usually examined?More specifically, organization design is a formal, guided process for integrating the people, information and technology of an organization. It is used to match the form of the organization as closely as possible to the purpose(s) the organization seeks to achieve. Through the design process, organizations act to improve the probability that the collective efforts of members will be successful. Typically, design is approached as an internal change under the guidance of an external facilitator. Managers and members work together to define the needs of the organization then create systems to meet those needs most effectively. Define diversity, and review the three challenges it presents for organizations and managers. Diversity is defined as the presence of individual human characteristics that make people different from one another. A persons demographic and uniqueness is the foundation that builds characteristics that help shape what a person becomes. Diversity consists of variety, social inclusiveness, and decrepency of a person that makes them different from what is considered normal or specific aspects that make each individual unique. The three challenges of organizations and managers are: the changing social and cultural environment, the evolving global environment, and advaning information technology. The changing social and cultural environment has its challenges today. Through planning, organization, leading, decision making, managers attempt to change and control elements in the environment. Todays environments respect more complex and unstable, it leads organizational management also experiences very high uncertainty and ambiguity. As a successful manager, you should use conceptual skills to predict environment, human skills to resolve conflict in organizational culture or international relationship, and technical skills to manage uncertain information.
